AI on the canvas

Every element on the canvas shares one list of AI actions. Open it by:

  • right-clicking the element on the canvas,
  • clicking the ✦ icon in the toolbar above a selected element, or
  • opening the AI menu from its row in the structure tree (left panel).

All three open the same menu and the same review dialog: describe what you want (or pick a one-click action), see the result, then approve or discard it. Nothing is applied until you approve it.

  • Edit with AI… — describe a change in your own words; MATRIZ proposes a draft for that element.
  • Restyle to brand — one click: restyles the element using your site’s design tokens, without touching its structure or content.
  • Rewrite copy… — rewrites the element’s own text.
  • Promote to shared style — not AI, but lives on the same menu: turns this element’s styles into a reusable style you can apply elsewhere.

“Rewrite copy” only ever touches text the element actually owns:

  • Text bound to your CMS — if the words come from a collection field (for example, a blog post’s title), Rewrite copy refuses and names the exact field that owns it, so you edit it at the source instead of creating a copy that gets overwritten the next time the page renders.
  • Text on a repeating element — if the element is a template that repeats once per item in a collection (like a card in a list), the rewrite still runs, but MATRIZ tells you up front that your change will apply to every repeated copy, not just the one you clicked.
